About the Program

What is the Regional Arts Program?

The Regional Arts Program (RAP) is a specialized stream offered through the Peel District School Board for secondary students across Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon. It provides a comprehensive arts education alongside the standard Ontario curriculum β€” and students must audition to earn a spot.

There are four streams available: Music (instrumental and vocal), Visual Arts, Drama, and Dance. Entry is primarily at Grade 9, with Grade 10 entry also available starting in the 2026–27 school year. Admission is competitive and audition-based β€” which is exactly where SYNERGY comes in.

New for 2026–27
Grade 10 entry is now available for current Grade 9 students β€” a second opportunity to audition for the Regional Arts Program.

Our Approach

More than lessons β€”
targeted preparation.

RAP audition prep at SYNERGY isn't just extra practice time. We work strategically on exactly what the panel will evaluate β€” and build the confidence to deliver it under pressure.

🎯
Audition-Specific Repertoire
We help students select pieces that showcase their strengths and meet program requirements β€” not just what they've been learning. Smart repertoire choices make a real difference.
🎀
Mock Auditions & Panel Prep
Students perform in simulated audition conditions before the real thing. We give honest, constructive feedback on presentation, nerves, and technique β€” so there are no surprises on audition day.
🧠
Performance Confidence
Technical ability matters β€” but so does how a student carries themselves in the room. We work on stage presence, eye contact, posture, and the mental side of performing under pressure.
πŸ–ΌοΈ
Portfolio Guidance (Visual Arts)
Art students receive guided feedback on portfolio curation β€” which pieces to include, how to present them, and how to develop work that demonstrates range at an audition level.
πŸ“…
Structured Prep Timeline
We build a preparation plan around your audition date β€” working backward to ensure students are polished and ready with time to spare, not scrambling at the last minute.
πŸ’¬
Family Communication
We keep families informed throughout. Parents know where their child stands, what's being worked on, and what to expect β€” taking the anxiety out of a stressful process.

Common Questions

RAP audition FAQ.

RAP entry is primarily at Grade 9. Starting in the 2026–27 school year, Grade 10 entry is also available for current Grade 9 students. Applications typically open in the fall of Grade 8.
For the main RAP program, it depends on where you live. Students south of Highway 401 are directed to Cawthra Park Secondary in Mississauga; students north of the 401 go to Mayfield Secondary in Caledon. Central Peel (Strings) and St. Thomas Aquinas have their own separate applications. Give us a call β€” we know the system well and can help you navigate the options.
Ideally, September of Grade 8 β€” giving a full school year of focused preparation before auditions in late winter and spring. That said, we've helped students who came to us later and still succeeded. Earlier is always better, but it's rarely too late to start.
We prepare students for Music, Visual Arts, and Drama. For Dance, we're happy to provide a referral to trusted dance studios in the area who specialize in that stream.
Not at all. We welcome students from any school or studio who are preparing for an audition. Many families come to us specifically for RAP prep, even if their child takes regular lessons elsewhere.
Yes. We coach students applying to post-secondary music programs, fine arts degrees, and theatre programs at universities and colleges across Ontario. Ask us about university audition prep when you call.
